When I think of Holland, I think of ... a flat country with many great fields. It is well known that there are famous "coffee shops" where you can buy "something" to smoke ...
One of the things I have to think of is the capital city of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. People with clogs (that are ugly shoes, I think). And I have to think of Anne Frank's house, where her family had to hide.

When I think of Holland, I think of cows because I once got a card from Holland showing a cow.
I think of tulips because I saw that on TV. I think of the sea because Holland is on the North Sea. I don't know anything more about Holland.

When I think of Holland, I think of drugs because it is allowed by law to buy and use soft drugs. I think of flowers, too, in particular of tulips. I don't know why.

When I think of Holland, I think of hardstyle (techno). Hardstyle is a special kind of techno music, with faster and harder beats than house or dance music. The most famous label for this music "Q-Dance" which is in Holland. That's why most hardstyle events take place there. Another reason why many people go to such events in Holland, is that they are allowed to consume drugs (like "weed") legally. In my freetime I spend a lot of time with techno music, therefore I would like to visit such an event when I'm 18 ... of course not for the drugs!

On Holland

Last week we I got this nice postcard from Holland for my students:

Monique, the sender of the card, asked an interesting question to be discussed with my students in class: "When one thinks of Holland, one thinks of ... mills. But what else comes to mind?"

Now in the following posts I'll have each of my students answer Monique's question. I hope she'll follow the project and will post some comments. :-)
