The Language Exchange

Welcome to our Language Exchange! This blog is a platform for my students to publish their own texts in the languages I teach them. I think this might be a good way to motivate them to learn languages. Feel free to comment on the posts. And please be nice. (Every student has written an introductory post, usually accompanied by a photo. You can find them in the archives.)

On Holland - by Laura (20)

When I think of The Netherlands, I have to imagine huge tulip fields, windsmills, Miss Antje with a broad smile, blond hair and a big piece of cheese (probably Gouda!) in her arms. But there are many other things in my mind that are typical of Holland.
The painter Rembrandt, Anne Frank in her hiding place, bicycles and the old town canals between close standing, colourful houses with their long, small windows. Coffee shops, crude herring and, naturally, Queen Beatrix with her unmistakable hairdo.

On Holland - by Heiko (46)

When I think of Holland, I think of "Frau Antje" cheese. "Frau Antje" was a famous TV spot for cheese here in Germany. I also think of grachten, tulips, bicycles. Moreover, the famous painter Van Gogh comes to my mind. Besides, from my last holiday in Holland I have some guilders left over.
