The Language Exchange

Welcome to our Language Exchange! This blog is a platform for my students to publish their own texts in the languages I teach them. I think this might be a good way to motivate them to learn languages. Feel free to comment on the posts. And please be nice. (Every student has written an introductory post, usually accompanied by a photo. You can find them in the archives.)

On Holland - by Patrick (16)

When I think of Holland, I think of hardstyle (techno). Hardstyle is a special kind of techno music, with faster and harder beats than house or dance music. The most famous label for this music "Q-Dance" which is in Holland. That's why most hardstyle events take place there. Another reason why many people go to such events in Holland, is that they are allowed to consume drugs (like "weed") legally. In my freetime I spend a lot of time with techno music, therefore I would like to visit such an event when I'm 18 ... of course not for the drugs!

Hello Patrick, learned something new about my country. I was unaware of that Hardstyle thing. Well, Holland may have the image of a drug "friendly"state, but I prefer music to drugs. So do you! Wise decision.
I gather you aren really into music since that's the main thing you mention when thinking about Holland. It's a very modern approach since most of the people will come up with tulips etc.

Hello Monique,

You are right when you say that I am a music freak. .-) But techno isn't the only thing I am interested in. I have also been playing the drums for eight years.

Take care,
Patrick
