The Language Exchange

Welcome to our Language Exchange! This blog is a platform for my students to publish their own texts in the languages I teach them. I think this might be a good way to motivate them to learn languages. Feel free to comment on the posts. And please be nice. (Every student has written an introductory post, usually accompanied by a photo. You can find them in the archives.)

Our class trip - by Annika

On Monday at 8 o'clock we started our trip by bus. On our way to Inzell we passed Munich where we saw the new Allianz-Arena. At 18.30 h we arrived at our hotel where Anni Friesinger's ice-rink is.
The next day we went to Munich. At first we went on a guided bus tour and after that we had three hours of free time. At last we visited the German Museum.
On Wednesday we first walked up the Hochfelln, which is a 1600 m high mountain in the Alps. Some of us couldn't go all the way up and went back where we met later. In the afternoon we went to the Chiemsee where we visited a castle.
The fourth day was the best because we made a rafting-tour which was very funny. Later on we visited a documentation center in Obersalzberg, which is about Hitler.
On Friday we returned back home.

Fast Food - by Daniel

This is a summary of a newspaper (published in 2005) article about McDonald's. I had to prepare it for school.

McDonald's is America's best known fast food export and it's known all over the world. The fast food restaurant idea came from the McDonalds brothers, but Ray Kroc opened the first restaurant in Illinois in June 1955. Seeing that children are the best customers, they had the idea of Ronald McDonald, the clown. The restaurant has ben expanding. In 1960 there were 200 restaurants in the USA. In 1974 the first restaurant opened in London. In January 1990 the first restaurant opened in Moscow. The biggest one is in China, it opened in 1992. There are 400 restaurants in China. People are not only enthusiastic, but also criticize McDonald's. More and more people blame McDonald's food for causing obesity. In every restaurant there is the same food. It is cheap and quick. The restaurant has a quick service, it's clean and efficient. McDonald's reacted to the criticism by offering salad and fruits. There are different meals for different countries.

My opinion: I think McDonald's food has two sides: on one side there is the tasty food which many people eat. On the other side the food makes you sick and causes obesity. I think it's a question of how often you go to McDonald's. What do you think about McDonald's? Please comment on this.
