The Language Exchange

Welcome to our Language Exchange! This blog is a platform for my students to publish their own texts in the languages I teach them. I think this might be a good way to motivate them to learn languages. Feel free to comment on the posts. And please be nice. (Every student has written an introductory post, usually accompanied by a photo. You can find them in the archives.)

Hip Hop - by Anna-Lena

Today Anna-Lena will try to describe the hip-hop style to you:

Hip-hop music comes from black funk and soul music. There are many different styles of hip- hop music, some also include rap. Some hip-hoppers do breakdance or beatboxing. The graffiti culture is another part of hip-hop. Typical clothes people wear are baggy pants and jackets, sneakers, caps. A few wear necklaces in bling-bling style. As the origins of hip-hop come from the African American culture, you can often hear AAVE (African American Vernacular English).

I don't like hip-hop because I don't like the clothes they wear and I listen to another kind of music. What do you think about hip-hop?
