The Language Exchange

Welcome to our Language Exchange! This blog is a platform for my students to publish their own texts in the languages I teach them. I think this might be a good way to motivate them to learn languages. Feel free to comment on the posts. And please be nice. (Every student has written an introductory post, usually accompanied by a photo. You can find them in the archives.)

Traffic problems - by Peter

We live in a village, and the only traffic problems we know are the farmers with their tractors and harvesters. They are too slow, so when we drive fast by car, we sometimes must brake extremely because a tractor stands in the middle of the street. Since January, in the cities, for example in Hanover, there are areas where it is forbidden to drive into by car. Unless you have a sticker on your windshield in red, yellow or green. It says how clean the engine of your car is. It's because of smog. So they told us. I think it's because the country needs money.
Since the introduction of these stickers we have had no problems with smog. The big problem everybody thinks is a traffic problem, is the industry, mainly in the USA.

In Texas, we have safety inspections. In order to drive your car, your car has to pass an inspection to be sure it is safe and doesn't make a lot of noise or smoke. People here drive crazy, especially because of cell phones. I was in Germany one time and the cars drove fast on the autobahn. Here they drive fast but they're not supposed to.
