The Language Exchange

Welcome to our Language Exchange! This blog is a platform for my students to publish their own texts in the languages I teach them. I think this might be a good way to motivate them to learn languages. Feel free to comment on the posts. And please be nice. (Every student has written an introductory post, usually accompanied by a photo. You can find them in the archives.)

Emperor Daniel I - by Daniel

I read an article with Daniel about micro-states in Australia and we discussed the different constitutions that exist. Then I told him to write about making his own village independent:

If I made my village an independent state, I would call it "The Empire of ..." and its constitutional status would be that of an Empire. If I made it an empire, I would be "Emperor Daniel I", of course. The reasons for turning a village into an independent state can be: freedom for all people and independence. In order to raise money, the citizens would have to pay taxes or sell their goods. A certain percentage of the money would go to the Empire.
